My first trip to Africa has changed the path I will take the rest of my life. After spending two months in Rwanda, my view of God and my view on how my life should be spent has been transformed. I experienced God in many ways during my time in Rwanda. One critical aspect I learned about my heavenly Father is that the blessings we receive from Him are a result of His faithfulness and who He is and not a result of our faithfulness or who we are. God in His very nature is compassionate towards the lost and rises up ministries that will allow others to enter into an everlasting relationship with Himself. Play For Hope was successful solely because of this reality. We weren’t all-star Christians that prayed fervently everyday and read many Scriptures together as a team, but God still immensely blessed our efforts this summer. My heart for the youth of this world grew this summer. For years I have known that my calling was to reach out to youth and the conviction of this calling only intensified as I saw kids struggle to live. Thousands of kids in Rwanda live on the streets with no parents, no food, no shelter, and no love. I have a passion to see these kids receive all of these deficits through the efforts of Play For Hope. This is why I have committed myself to help seeing the goals of Play For Hope come to pass. Success for us will mean food, shelter, spiritual mentorship, and love for the youth of Rwanda.
