Just when we thought we were gonna to have a trial free trip…
So we set out Monday morning on our usual visit to the street kids of Africa New Life Bible Church. We were blessed to receive a car for rent last week so we have been free from waiting for a driver to pick us up or using public transport to get around the city. However that changed in the morning.
We drove for one minute before our car turned off. The oil and coolant were both dangerously low so we filled up both and after an hour were back on the road. However, the car broke down a gain and we spent another hour trying to get it to start.
To save you from the rest of the details, let’s just say that the head of the engine is damaged and repairs will cost hundreds of dollars. So we are back to renting cars big enough to fit 7 people.
So I have been using a camcorder to record video and take pictures of the going ons in Rwanda with a goal of showing the people in the States what life is like here. Unfortunately, one of the street kids we work with on Mondays stole my camera and left the church grounds before I realized he took it. I know exactly who took it because I saw him messing with my bag earlier but I am not certain if he will still have the camcorder when I see him again on Monday...
With so much other stuff happening on Monday I didn’t have time to be upset until that night. I was pretty down but the next morning the Lord used one of the workers at the house I’m staying at to see a valuable lesson taught in John 9:1-3. In short, things happen to us so that God may be displayed. Me losing my camcorder will allow me to show the unconditional love of God to the child next Monday when I see him. God loves us even when we sin against him, so I can show this truth to this kids by still loving him even though he’s sinned against me… |
