We had the honor of International Justice Mission coming to our office and putting on a training for our coaches. The training included information on sexual abuse, what to do if you find out one of your players has been sexually abused, and how to become an advocate in your community against sexual abuse. With the children we work with, we have found that many have experienced some form of abuse and so our coaches found this information invaluable for continuing to love and care for our children. Based on the training, the coaches have decided to put together a month long curriculum for their teams, which will address sexual abuse and help their teams to feel safe to express what has happened to them and to teach our teams how they can protect others from it. We hope this is the first step of many in using our sports programs to protect children and change mindsets against abuse towards children. Here are a few pictures from the training below.
