Play For Hope

A little update on what has been happening the last few weeks in Rwanda.  We primarily have been taking care of a lot of administrative work: getting detailed player profiles on each of our players, preparing for a trip to Burundi, and upcoming tournaments/events, etc, etc.  It is a very busy time for us as we are taking our organization to the next level and gearing up to go deeper into impacting our players lives.

One of the highlights for me personally has been Serieux and I beginning to go to Kimisagara regularly to work with the newly formed Mission FC girls team.  Because of limitations that we currently have, the girls are practicing at the same time as the boys.  This means that the head coach is not able to coach both of boys and the girls.  One of the older players on the boys teams has thus begun coaching the girls, but has basically no coaching experience.  Because of this, Serieux is beginning to take him under his wing and to train him on the basics of how to coach and how to work specifically with girls.  This has meant that Serieux and I have been able to run the practices and encourage the girls (many of whom are still very, very tough).  It has been great to do some of the ministry hands on and to be able to pour into these girls.
