Sorry for the delay in blog posts. We have been running crazy here in Rwanda and it seems all we do is run clinics and sleep. Today is our last official day of clinics. I will put up a lot more about all of our experiences at these clinics in the coming future. But for now I just want to give you a very small sneak peak of what remains in our final week in Rwanda. We have been given the national football stadium (Amahoro Stade to those of you in Rwanda) on July 15th and 16th to run a citywide Kigali youth tournament. We unfortunately lost the basketball stadium first to bmx bikes and now it sounds like to the Rwandan National Team. We are super excited to run a tournament in the national stadium however which has 30,000 seats. We will have a division of older boys, younger boys, and girls. It is our hope to promote girls playing sports with the tournament as most girls in Rwanda do not participate in sports. The older boys will be all star teams (so hard to make such selections) of an equal number of streetkids, church kids, and school kids. We dream of bringing all sections of society together to show love to one another and to learn to interact. It should be a very very exciting time. We got the flyers printed, are working on getting announcements in churches, and are taking care of a million details.
Please pray for Rodney as he got food poisioning. It came at a terrible time for him as we were finally working with higher level basketball players, which is his passion. |
